Five Booked for ₹4.1 Lakh Admission Fraud at Ramdeobaba Engineering College

Nagpur, India: Gittikhadan Police have registered a case against five people for allegedly cheating a man from Umred for ₹4.1 lakh by falsely promising admission to Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management.
The victim, Duryodhan Bhajankar (47), was introduced to Akash Dhepe (35), who claimed he could get Bhajankar’s son admitted to the college for ₹4 lakh. Believing him, Bhajankar made the payment. However, he later noticed that the receipt did not have the college’s official stamp, which raised his doubts.
Even after waiting for more than 20 days, no admission was granted. When Bhajankar asked for his money back, Dhepe and his associates – Ramal Kanojiya (40), Kshitij Navghare (35), Akshay Ghogale (35), and an unidentified man (40) – refused to return the amount.
Based on Bhajankar’s complaint, Gittikhadan Police have booked all five under sections 318(4), 335, 336(2), 336(3), 340(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing.
