Five New Forensic Vans to Assist Nagpur Police in Crime Investigations

Nagpur, India: The Nagpur City Police have introduced five forensic mobile vans to help with crime investigations. A ceremony was held on Thursday at Police Bhavan, attended by Commissioner of Police Dr Ravinder Singal, senior police officers, and forensic experts.

Each van is equipped with special forensic kits prepared by the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory. A total of 16 kits have been distributed among the vans. These vans will be sent to crime scenes when needed. The Deputy Commissioners of Police from Zone I to V have been given charge of the vans for their areas.

The vans are air-conditioned and will have a forensic laboratory officer, an assistant, an attendant, a police officer, and a driver. Each van will also have a male and female officer. Their job is to collect evidence from crime scenes, analyse it, and submit reports.

Senior officials, including Vijay Thakre, Deputy Director of the Forensic Laboratory, and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Crime, Sanjay Patil, were present at the event. Other officers such as Rahul Maknikar, Shewta Khedkar, Lohit Matani, Rahul Madne, Archit Chandak, Mahek Swamy, Rashmita Rao, Ashwini Patil, and Vaishali Mahajan also attended.

These new forensic vans will make crime investigations faster and more efficient in Nagpur.
