Forest Department Seizes 11 Pairs of Wildlife Artefacts
Late Saturday evening, the squad of the Forest Department, Central Chanda, made a significant seizure of 11 pairs of wildlife artefacts known as monitor lizard (Hatha Jodi). These items are often associated with diverse superstitious beliefs, alleged witchcraft, and black magic practices.
Acting on a tip-off, the mobile squad of the Central Chanda division apprehended two individuals at the bus stand of Chandrapur. Upon inspecting their belongings, the forest team discovered the 11 pairs of Hatha Jodi.
Subsequently, the two accused were arrested in connection with the possession of these artefacts. The seized items were sent for lab testing to further investigate their origin and composition.
A case has been registered against the two accused under relevant sections of the law, highlighting the serious nature of possessing such wildlife artefacts associated with superstition and illegal practices. The Forest Department's proactive action serves to curb the illicit trade and usage of wildlife products for misguided beliefs and practices, aiming to protect both wildlife and society from harm.
