Former City President of Congress Accused of Embezzlement at Hazrat Baba Tajuddin Trust
In a shocking revelation, the former City President of Congress, Sheikh Hussain Abdul Jabbar, is now under scrutiny for alleged irregularities and embezzlement of funds at the Hazrat Baba Tajuddin Trust in Bada Tajbagh. The police have gathered evidence suggesting that Hussain may have misappropriated lakhs of rupees from the trust's donation boxes during his tenure as the chairman from January 2011 to December 2016.
According to the Economic Offences Wing (EoW), monthly donations collected in the trust's boxes amounted to around Rs 10 to 12 lakhs. However, investigations indicate that only a portion of this money was deposited into the trust's account, while the remaining funds allegedly found their way into Hussain's residence. The police estimate that Hussain might have embezzled a substantial sum over the course of five years.
Adding to the suspicion surrounding Hussain's activities, he reportedly sold trust-owned land to approximately 400 individuals. This development has heightened concerns regarding his involvement in fraudulent practices. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, and if concrete evidence is found, another cheating case will be registered against Hussain. The police intend to present the accused before the court on Wednesday.
In connection with the alleged scam amounting to Rs 1.5 crore at the Hazrat Baba Tajuddin Trust, the former Secretary Igbal Ismail Velji, along with Hussain, has been arrested and taken into police custody for interrogation. The complaint was filed by Taj B3 Communication De's Ahmed All Ahmed Shed with the Sakkandara police on September 22, 2002, which resulted in a fraud case being registered against both Hussain and Velji. Despite their attempts to obtain anticipatory bail from the Nagpur bench of the High Court and later from the Supreme Court, their appeals were rejected. They have now been remanded in police custody until Wednesday.
The arrest of Sheikh Hussain Abdul Jabbar has created a significant stir within political circles. As a former City President of Congress, his alleged involvement in embezzlement and fraudulent activities at the Hazrat Baba Tajuddin Trust has raised concerns about corruption within the party's ranks. The case continues to unfold as the police investigation progresses.
