Former Deori College Clerk Accused of Rs 9.22 Lakh Fraud

Nagpur, India- Deori Police have taken action against a former clerk of the education society for allegedly embezzling Rs 9.22 lakh from 2012 to 2021. The accused, Tathagat Prahlad Gajbhiye (36), who resided in Dhobisarar village, served at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Arts, Commerce, and Science College in Surtoli/Lohara village since its establishment in 2012 by Janta Bahuudeshiya Sanstha.

Initially appointed as the college clerk, Gajbhiye handled various financial responsibilities. In 2017, he was appointed as a full-time Assistant Professor, submitting documents for verification, which were later found to be falsified during a recent review by Society Director Rajkumar Kevalram Madame. This discovery led to Gajbhiye being issued a show-cause notice on October 1, 2022. He resigned on October 2, 2022, with his resignation accepted on October 28, 2022, requiring him to return all financial documents and obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

However, it was revealed during this process that Gajbhiye had misappropriated Rs 9,22,500 lakh from the college's State Bank of India account. Director Madame filed a police complaint on June 29, prompting Deori Police to register an offence under Sections 406, 408, 420, 465, 467, 468, and 471 of IPC against Gajbhiye. API Anjori Gangakachur is currently leading the investigation into the case.
