Gang Fight Breaks Out in Nagpur Jail, One Injured
A gang fight erupted in Nagpur Central Jail, leading to one inmate being injured. The incident involved Chetan Hazare, who is accused of orchestrating the killing of gambling den operator Balya Binekar, and his rival Sameer Ahmed Sagir Ahmed.
The clash occurred in the early hours of Monday inside the 'badi gol' barrack where both Hazare and Ahmed were lodged. A vigilant jail guard noticed the fight and immediately alerted senior officials.
Ahmed reportedly fashioned a sharp weapon from a piece of tin shed and attacked Hazare, causing a deep gash on his hand. Hazare was then taken to the prison's medical facility for treatment.
Superintendent of Prison, Vaibhav Agey, confirmed that reports of the incident have been sent to the court for further action.
This incident is reminiscent of a previous altercation at Nagpur Central Jail during a Diwali program last November. In that incident, a prison constable was seriously injured when six inmates attacked him.
