Gang of Five Robs Shopkeeper to Repay Bike Loan, Arrested
Nagpur: A group of five youths robbed a shopkeeper to repay a loan for a mortgaged motorcycle. Among the accused, two had previously worked for the shopkeeper, helping them plan the crime.
The accused have been identified as Vickey Narendra Dhuware (18), Yash Gondane (25), Sujal Anand Patil (23), Rishabh Agrawal (25), and a juvenile.
On January 12, the gang targeted Ghanshyam Aavaldas Waswani (55), a utensil shop owner from Indra Colony. Two of the accused had worked for him during the Diwali season and knew he handled large sums of cash.
The robbery took place at 9:50 PM while Waswani was on his way home. The gang stopped him and stole the cash he was carrying, later splitting the money equally. Rishabh Agrawal used his share to repay a loan and release his mortgaged motorcycle.
Jaripatka police reviewed footage from 150 CCTV cameras and identified Dhuware and Patil through their motorcycle registration number. During questioning, the duo confessed and revealed details about the other gang members.
Further investigation led the police to Ujjain, where Agrawal and Gondane had traveled to visit the Mahakal temple. They were arrested and brought back to Nagpur.
The arrests were carried out under the guidance of DCP Niketan Kadam. The team included Senior Inspector Arun Kshirsagar, PSI Ashish Morkhede, and officers Niketan Killedar, Manish Kokarde, Amit Satpute, Sachin Tayde, Tarang Sharma, and Vikas Pathak.
This was reportedly the gang's first crime, driven by financial desperation. The police have emphasized the importance of vigilance and strict action to deter such incidents.
