Gittikhadan Police File Case Against Motorcyclist in Fatal Accident
Nagpur, India: Gittikhadan Police have registered a case against a motorcyclist involved in a fatal accident that led to the death of a 60-year-old man. The incident took place on July 31, 2024, and the victim, Sudhakar Gangadharrao Sherje, succumbed to his injuries on August 9, 2024.
According to reports, Sudhakar Sherje, a resident of Adarsh Colony on Katol Road, was returning home on his scooter (MH 31 EC 8605) after buying vegetables. Around 4:00 PM, as he was passing in front of Dorlikar Lawn on a turning road within the Gittikhadan Police Station limits, a speeding and reckless motorcyclist (MH 31 EC 9998) crashed into his scooter. The collision left Sherje critically injured, and the motorcyclist fled the scene.
Bystanders rushed Sherje to Medical Hospital for treatment, but despite their efforts, he was declared dead by doctors on August 9 at around 6:00 PM.
Following a complaint filed by the victim's son, Gaurav Sudhakarrao Sherje, 26, the Gittikhadan Police, led by Sub-Inspector Punnawar, registered a case against the motorcyclist. The charges include sections 281, 125(B), and 106(1) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigation is ongoing.
