Gondia: Pet Dog Chases Away Sloth Bear, Saves Injured Owner
Gondia, Vidarbha: A pet dog saved its owner from a sloth bear attack in Borunda village, Goregaon tehsil, Gondia district. The brave dog fought off the bear and chased it away, preventing serious harm.
The man, Rajesh Harichand Chanap, was injured in the attack and is being treated at Gondia District General Hospital. The incident happened around 8 PM on Wednesday.
Borunda village is close to Nagzira Sanctuary, where wild animals are often seen. Villagers have faced animal attacks before.
Rajesh was in his courtyard when the sloth bear suddenly attacked him. As he screamed for help, his pet dog jumped in and scared the bear away.
Villagers reported the incident to the Goregaon Forest Department. Officials visited the spot, recorded the details, and sent a report to senior authorities.
Worried about their safety, villagers are asking the forest department to take steps to protect them from future animal attacks.
