Hair Loss Outbreak in Buldhana Spreads to 11 Villages, 126 Cases Reported
Buldhana: A hair loss problem affected four villages in Shegaon tehsil has now spread to 11 villages, with the number of cases rising from 51 to 126. Authorities suspect contaminated water as the cause and are actively investigating the matter.
Residents of Gondgaon have stopped showering since last week following a warning from authorities to avoid using the local water supply. A health team is on-site to monitor the situation. Skin and hair samples from infected individuals have been collected and sent to laboratories for testing.
Water samples from the region have also been sent to Nagpur to check for the presence of harmful elements like lead and arsenic, as advised by dermatologists. The results of these tests are expected within eight days.
The health department has begun conducting anti-fungal clinical examinations for residents of the affected villages. Earlier tests revealed that the water in some areas contained high levels of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and nitrates, raising concerns about its safety.
Villages Affected by the Outbreak
The hair loss problem has spread to Bondgaon, Kalawad, Kathora, Bhongaon, Machhindrakhanda, Hingna Vaijnath, Ghui, Matargaon, Paharjira, Nimbi, and Taroda Kasba.
Officials are working to determine the exact cause of the outbreak and take measures to control its spread. Residents are advised to avoid using the suspected water sources until further updates are provided.
