High Court Raises Doubts on Court's Statements in Sunil Kedar's Case
Sunil Kedar, the former Congress MLA, had himself filed the FIR, and the recent observations by the Bombay High Court highlighted that the trial court, in convicting him, made statements inconsistent with the presented evidence. The court further noted that the trial court overlooked the fact that Kedar was the one who lodged the FIR.
Justice Urmila Joshi-Phalke of the Nagpur bench decided to suspend Kedar's sentence in a bank scam case involving over Rs. 153 Crores. The High Court emphasized that Kedar had raised valid points in his appeal against the conviction.
Contrary to the trial court's finding of a conspiracy between Kedar and HTL officers, the High Court pointed out a discrepancy. It highlighted the investigating officer's admission that Kedar neither utilized the amount for personal gain nor was involved in the transfer of that sum.
