Horrific Crash on Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway: 7 Dead, 10 Injured
Nagpur-Mumbai, Samruddhi Expressway : Last night, a devastating collision between two cars on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, also known as Samruddhi Mahamarg, near Kadwanchi village in Jalna district, resulted in the deaths of seven people and left ten others injured. The accident site is nearly 400 km from Mumbai.
The incident occurred around 11 pm when a Swift Dzire, entering the highway from the wrong direction after refueling, collided with an Ertiga traveling from Nagpur to Mumbai. The impact was so severe that the Ertiga was hurled into the air, landing on the highway barricade. Passengers were ejected from the vehicle, landing on the road. The Swift Dzire was left a mangled heap of metal.
Six individuals lost their lives at the scene, with visuals showing their bodies strewn across the highway.
Upon receiving notification of the accident, the Samruddhi Highway Police and Jalna Police swiftly arrived at the scene. They promptly utilized a crane to remove the vehicles involved. The injured individuals have been referred to the district hospital for medical treatment.
The Samruddhi Mahamarg is a partially operational, six-lane, 701-km-long access-controlled expressway in Maharashtra. It stands as one of the country’s longest greenfield road projects, linking Mumbai with Nagpur, the state’s third-largest city.
