Inauguration of Autopsy Complex at AIIMS Nagpur
The Autopsy Complex at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur was officially inaugurated on December 19, 2023, by Dr. (Prof.) M. Hanumantha Rao, the Executive Director of AIIMS, Nagpur.
During the inauguration, Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar, Professor and head of the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, warmly welcomed all dignitaries with floral bouquets. Notable figures such as Mr. Vijay Kumar Nayak (Deputy Director, Admin), Mr. B. K. Agrawal (Financial Advisor), Dr. Sanjiv Choudhary (Deputy Medical Superintendent), and Dr. Ganesh Dakhale (Dean Examination) graced the occasion with their presence.
The Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology at AIIMS, Nagpur, obtained the necessary permissions to conduct post-mortem examinations. As per the approval letter, medicolegal postmortems for bodies within the jurisdiction of the police stations of Sonegaon, Hingana, Hingna MIDC, Beltarodi, Buttibori MIDC, Buttibori, and Bela will now take place at the Autopsy Block of AIIMS, Nagpur.
Previously, such post-mortems were carried out at Government Medical College, Nagpur, resulting in unavoidable delays and causing inconvenience to both the police and the deceased's relatives throughout the process.
The inaugural ceremony, skillfully hosted by Dr. Harshal Thube, saw the collective efforts of Dr. Ashok Jiwane, Dr. Jayesh Dudhe, Dr. Jishnu V, Dr. Animesh Gupta, Dr. Priyanshu Garg, Dr. Avinash Kumar Anand, as well as Mr. Shobhit Kapse, Miss. Prachi Bansod, Miss. Sandhya Wani, Mr. Sanket Giri, Mr. Lokshankar Megdarat, and Mr. Ishwar Chachane contribute to the program's success.
