Ind vs Eng ODI 2025: India Clinches Victory, Takes 1-0 Lead

Nagpur, India: After six long years, Nagpur finally hosted a One-Day International (ODI) match, and cricket fans made the most of it. The VCA Jamtha Stadium was packed with excited supporters, cheering, dancing, and enjoying every moment as India defeated England by four wickets under the lights.

Though the match started at 1:30 PM, fans arrived early in the morning to grab their seats. Many dressed in colourful turbans, hats, and traditional outfits, while others painted the Indian flag on their faces. The stadium turned into a sea of blue as fans wore Team India jerseys. With the DJ playing loud music after every boundary and six, the crowd kept the energy high throughout the match.

The excitement was clear as fans chanted "India jeetega!", "Vande Mataram!", and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai!". The security was tight, but officers allowed fans to celebrate freely.

On the field, India put up a strong performance. England was restricted to 248 runs, thanks to debutant Harshit Rana and experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who took three wickets each. However, fans were disappointed when they heard that star player Virat Kohli wouldn’t play due to a knee injury.

India’s chase got off to a rough start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (15) and captain Rohit Sharma (2) getting out early. But vice-captain Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel turned things around. Iyer played an entertaining knock of 59 runs, while Gill and Patel built a match-winning 108-run partnership. Gill led the way with 87 runs, while Patel added a crucial 52, helping India secure the victory.

There was a brief silence in the stadium when India lost early wickets, but the fans quickly found their voice again as the team fought back.

For cricket lovers in Nagpur, the long wait for an ODI was worth it. They went home with happy memories of an exciting match and a well-deserved Indian victory.
