Indian Railways Introduces Special Train Service from Kanpur to Madurai for Diwali Travelers
Nagpur, India: To accommodate the surge of travellers during the Diwali festival, Indian Railways is running a special train service from Kanpur Central to Madurai and back, featuring a special fare.
The train, designated as No. 01927/01928, will operate 16 trips. The Kanpur Central-Madurai Special Express (Train No. 01927) will run weekly from Kanpur Central every Wednesday, starting October 9 and continuing until November 27, 2024. Departing at 12:30 PM, this train will reach Madurai station by 9:30 AM on the third day (Friday). Additionally, it will stop at Nagpur at 4:34 AM.
On the return journey, the Madurai-Kanpur Central Special Express (Train No. 01928) will operate every Friday from Madurai, starting October 11 through November 27, 2024. This train will also leave at 12:30 PM and is scheduled to arrive at Kanpur Central by 10:22 PM on the third day (Sunday), with a stop in Nagpur at 7:55 PM.
The special train will make several stops along its route, including Pokhrayan, Orai, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Bina, Bhopal, Itarsi, Nagpur, Chandrapur, and several others, concluding its journey at Madurai.
The train will consist of 21 coaches, featuring 1 AC 2-tier coach, 3 AC 3-tier coaches, 7 Sleeper coaches, 8 General coaches, and 2 Guard Brake Vans.
This special service aims to ease the travel woes of North Indian residents heading home for the Diwali celebrations, as there has been significant traffic and demand for seats that regular long-distance trains have struggled to meet.
