India's Mistake Against Sri Lanka in the 3rd T20 International
Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India's T20 international team, almost cost his side the team's third match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. It was the series' third and last Twenty20 International.
While Sri Lanka was chasing 138 runs, India made an incredible comeback in Pallekele thanks to their subpar hitting towards the conclusion of the innings.
To win the game, the hosts needed five runs from the last two balls. At this point, Chamindu Wickramasinghe attempted to steal a pair and criticized Suryakumar for his longer delivery.
Asitha Fernando may have been caught well short of the non-striker's crease on the long-off throw, but Suryakumar made a critical error. When the ball was eventually recovered by the Indian captain, he threw it to wicketkeeper Sanju Samson at the other end rather than shattering the stumps at the non-striker's end. The Sri Lankan batsmen were able to accomplish the double by saving their wickets as a result.
