IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Nagpur Due to Passenger's Medical Emergency

An IndiGo flight en route from Mumbai to Ranchi had to make an emergency landing at Nagpur airport due to a critical medical situation on board. The incident occurred as a 62-year-old passenger experienced a severe medical emergency.
The passenger, identified as Devanand Tiwari, was reported to be battling tuberculosis and chronic kidney disease (CKD). During the flight, he began vomiting blood, necessitating immediate medical attention. In response to the situation, the flight crew took the decision to make an unscheduled landing at Nagpur airport.
Upon landing in Nagpur, the necessary medical procedures were carried out to address the passenger's condition. Following medical clearance, the flight was able to successfully continue its journey from Nagpur to Ranchi.
Tragically, despite efforts to provide medical assistance, Devanand Tiwari's condition deteriorated rapidly. He was declared deceased upon arrival at KIMS Hospital. Subsequently, his body was transferred to Government Medical College and Hospital for further procedures and investigation.
Aejaz Shami, the DGM of Branding and Communications at KIMS Hospital, confirmed that Devanand Tiwari was brought to their facility due to his medical emergency. Regrettably, he passed away at the hospital. The incident occurred around 8 pm on Monday evening during the Mumbai to Ranchi IndiGo flight.
