Nagpur, India- A 42-day-old boy has survived a tragic accident in Nagpur. The incident occurred when a speeding car, driven by a drunk individual, collided with his father's scooter near Zenda Chowk in the busy Mahal area on Friday night. The baby, named Johann, was being held by his mother, Nazmin Shaikh, who was riding pillion on the scooter. Due to the impact of the crash, Nazmin lost her grip on Johann, causing him to be thrown from her lap. Johann somersaulted in the air before landing on his head on the concrete road.
Fortunately, Johann survived with only a skull fracture and some blood accumulation over his skull, according to Dr. Anil Jaiswal, the pediatrician treating him. Nazmin sustained several fractures all over her body and is currently recuperating at a private hospital in Sakkardara. Meanwhile, Johann is undergoing treatment at a pediatric hospital on Central Avenue. His condition is stable, and doctors are hopeful for his recovery.
The car involved in the accident also injured 8-10 other people, including a biker named Sachin Suvedar, and damaged several vehicles. The driver of the car, identified as Sunny Chauhan, along with his two aides, fled the scene after the accident. They were later arrested and remanded in police custody.
The police are investigating the incident and plan to add Section 308 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with driving under the influence of liquor and narcotics with the intention of causing injury to others, to the case. Additionally, they are exploring the legality of the car's ownership and may add more accused individuals to the case accordingly.
