Influencer and Oakwood Resort Clash Over Alleged Poor Service and Behavior

Chandrapur, Nagpur-  A birthday party at Oakwood Resort involving an influencer's friend has led to a social media dispute, with both sides accusing each other. Food blogger Ankita Bhattacharya said the resort provided poor service, while Jasjiv Kohli, Director of Oakwood Resort, claimed the guests were trying to damage the resort’s reputation despite having a good stay.

Ankita told the media that the resort didn’t serve fresh meals, the food tasted bad, and they even turned off the lights. "It was my friend's birthday on July 9. She booked a stay at Oakwood Resort for 11 people. They gave us a Rs 2,000 discount for social media posts. But when we arrived late, they didn’t provide high tea, and the dinner was not cooked properly," she said. "They also turned off our lights, and we recorded videos of it. The owner didn’t show up."

Jasjiv Kohli explained his side. "The guests arrived late after our high-tea time, but we still served them. Being near the forest in Tadoba, we follow strict rules and turn off major lights after 10 PM. Despite this, the guests brought liquor and played loud music until 1:30 AM. When our staff asked them to stop, they refused and insulted our staff," he said.

The next morning, the guests refused to check out on time and demanded a refund, threatening to defame the resort. "We turned off the lights in their room to prepare for other guests," Kohli mentioned.

Kohli added, "Social media is powerful, but some influencers use it to threaten us. Many resort owners face similar issues. Not all influencers are like this, but a few create problems."

This incident shows the ongoing issues between influencers and hotels over service expectations and behaviour, raising concerns about the impact of social media.
