Inspection of 18 km New Railway Line in Nagpur Division Scheduled for 27-28 March

Nagpur, India: The Commissioner of Rail Safety (CRS), Central Railway, will inspect the newly constructed 18 km section of the 3rd and 4th railway lines between Seloo and Sindi stations in Nagpur Division on 27th and 28th March. The construction work, completed between kilometre 772 and kilometre 790 on the Grand Trunk and Howrah-Mumbai route, is now ready for inspection.

As part of the procedure, any newly constructed railway track is thoroughly inspected before being certified for commercial use. During the inspection, the CRS will assess all aspects of the track, including curvature, fittings, and overall safety. The inspection will also cover the signalling and telecommunications (S&T) systems and the overhead electrification (OHE) infrastructure.

A speed trial will be conducted over two days to evaluate the safety and operational readiness of the new tracks. This speed trial is a critical step in the commissioning process, ensuring that the tracks meet the required standards for safe train operations.

The addition of these new lines aims to improve railway traffic flow, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure smoother movement of both passenger and freight trains. The newly constructed lines are expected to reduce congestion on the existing tracks, minimise delays, and facilitate seamless train operations in the region.

To ensure safety during the inspection, railway authorities have advised staff, passengers, and residents near the railway tracks to avoid crossing the tracks and to maintain a safe distance. All necessary precautions will be taken to ensure the inspection is conducted smoothly and safely.
