International Cricket Betting Racket Busted in Nagpur: 'Tata' Name Misused

Nagpur, India: The Beltarodi Police have uncovered an international cricket betting racket operating from Nagpur. The accused were misusing the trusted name "Tata" to gain customers' trust.
The betting was done through a platform called "Tata Book," where customers were given betting IDs starting with "Tanishq"—a famous jewellery brand owned by Tata. The bets were placed through the website Bajigarexchange.com and various social media platforms.
Police have identified Dinesh Lokchand Wardhani (42) as the main suspect. Another person, Rathod from Manish Nagar, helped the group by arranging a rented house for the operation. The racket accepted bets from several cities, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Raipur, Bhopal, Pune, Aurangabad, Nashik, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
The betting operation had been running in Manish Nagar for the past 7–8 days. During a police raid, the accused were caught placing bets on a Champions Trophy match.
Manish Nagar?
This is the first major cricket betting racket exposed in Nagpur in the past two years. In the past, bookies from Nagpur usually ran such operations from Goa, other cities, or rural farmhouses to avoid detection.
Police are now investigating the bank accounts of the accused to track their customers and understand the full scale of the operation. Authorities believe a bigger mastermind from another city may be funding the racket. The crackdown has shocked the cricket betting network, and further investigations are ongoing.
