When the immune system begins targeting the body's tissues and cells because it believes they are foreign invaders, the disease is referred to as an autoimmune disorder.
The numerous autoimmune disorders include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes, to name just a few. Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, author, columnist, and founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, stated in an interview with IT Lifestyle: "This inappropriate immune response leads to chronic inflammation and damage to various organs and systems."
Autoimmune diseases are becoming more common and impact millions of people globally. Interestingly, women are more likely than males to experience these diseases, which significantly compromises their health and wellbeing."
Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar said, "Over the past few decades, the incidence of autoimmune disorders has steadily increased, becoming a significant public health concern," in explaining the rising trend of autoimmune disorders."
This increasing tendency is caused by a number of reasons, such as lifestyle modifications, environmental triggers, and genetic susceptibility.
