Nagpur, India: The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari Railway Station has been modernised under the Amrit Bharat Station (ABS) Scheme. Although the station is already in use, its official inauguration is yet to be scheduled, according to the SECR Nagpur Railway Administration.
With a budget of ₹12.39 crore, the redevelopment has improved passenger facilities, introduced separate entry and exit points, widened roads, and expanded parking spaces. The station now has modern ticket counters, spacious waiting halls, and dedicated pathways for differently-abled passengers. CCTV cameras have been installed to strengthen security, and a 'Jan Aushadhi Kendra' has been set up to provide affordable medicines.
A key attraction is the station’s artistic makeover, featuring a glass mosaic of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, a vintage steam engine, and Nagpur’s famous oranges. The station’s walls display Gond art, thread paintings, and murals depicting traditional festivals like Pola and Marbat, celebrating the city’s culture.
Handling around 11,000 passengers daily, Itwari Junction is a vital railway hub, connecting cities like Itarsi, Chhindwara, Raipur, Jabalpur, and Gondia. With 12 trains originating from the station, the redevelopment aims to enhance travel convenience for thousands of commuters.
