Jatin Jain, a rally racer from Nagpur, has become the first Indian to complete the Sonora Rally, held in Mexico's Sonora desert.
Jatin Jain competed in the Nationals (Moto) Road to Dakar category, riding a Husqvarna 501 with stock suspension. He finished sixth in the National Enduro Class, making it an impressive show for India. The six-day rally consisted of a Prologue and five special stages, covering over 2400 km with at least 1200 km of selective selections, from Hermosillo to San Luis Rio Colorado along the coast of the Cortez Sea. Jain has previously conquered many rallies in India, such as Desert Storm, Dakshin Dare, Rally of Himalayas, and Raid De Himalaya, and has made a name for himself in the Indian National Rally Championships and Supercross Championship as well. Jain described the Sonora Rally as a test of endurance and skill due to the long stages, high temperatures, and challenges posed by the terrain. He managed to pass each stage despite the difficulties. The Sonora Rally is the third round of the FIM World Rally Raid Championship 2023 (W2RC).
