No Rahul Dravid Extension? Jay Shah Verifies BCCI Will Post Job Listing for New Head Coach, June 2024 marks the end of Rahul Dravid's time as India's head coach.
The announcement of the upcoming hiring of a new head coach has been verified by Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Following the 2023 ODI World Cup, Rahul Dravid, who has been the head coach of Team India since November 2021, had his contract extended.
However, given that the board is about to release an advertisement for a new coach, it doesn't appear that Dravid will receive a longer contract. As the head coach of the Indian squad, Dravid's contract with the BCCI expires in June, the same month that the side will compete in the T20 World Cup.
In November 2023, Dravid signed a contract extension with his coaching staff to continue leading the Indian squad. However, the new agreement was only good through June 30, 2024. According to Jay Shah, Dravid is free to apply for the position if he so chooses; however, there won't be a pre-arranged extension.
