Kajal Aggarwal Starrer Satyabhama Movie Review
Kajal Aggarwal is back on big screen with Satyabhama. This is her first as a fierce cop. Directed by Suman Chikkala is a heroine-centric thriller which released on June 7, 2024. Besides Kajal Aggarwal the film features Naveen Chandra, Prakash Raj, and others, which makes it a star-studded affair.
A dedicated ACP 'Satyabhama' played by Kajal Aggarwal is approached by a woman Haseena, who is a victim of domestic violence. Haseena gets tragically killed by her husband leading Satyabhama to dig into this further. The film revolves around how she unravels the truth and brings the culprits to justice.
Kajal, in her first role as police officer shines, however, her action scenes, potrayal as a strong lady could not save the thriller. Even the star-studded ensemble of Prakash Raj, Naveen Chandra and Ravi Varma seemed to be underused to their potential. Besides Aggarwal's performance Ankith Koyya is commendable.
From weak second-half, technical flaws, music the film falls short in several departments, not being able to keep the audience hooked. The film lacks anything noteworthy. Despite a promising storyline by Ramesh Yadma and Prashanth Reddy, the screenplay by Sashikiran Thikka and direction by Suman Chikkala fall short. The film attempts to tackle multiple serious issues like domestic violence, terrorism, and human trafficking but fails to explore any of them deeply. The narrative becomes muddled, and the film struggles to maintain its identity, oscillating between an action thriller and a suspense thriller without succeeding at either.
The core plot involving Haseena and her family needed more focus and development from the beginning. Instead, the film is bogged down by unnecessary scenes and characters that add no real value.
"Satyabhama" is a disappointing thriller that fails to live up to its potential. Despite Kajal Aggarwal's strong performance, the film is let down by a weak screenplay and poor direction.
