Kalmana Workshop Hit by Theft, Copper Scrap Valued at ₹4.8 Lakh Taken

Nagpur, India: In a shocking incident in Kalmana, Nagpur, an unidentified thief broke into a motor rewinding workshop and made off with a significant amount of copper scrap. The theft took place between 19th January and 30th January 2025, while the complainant, Pawan Gulabrao Bhute, aged 42, had locked up his workshop, New Gulab Electric Workshop, in Chikhli Layout, Kalmana, and gone home.

According to Bhute, when he returned, he discovered that the lock on the shop’s shutter had been broken. Upon entering, he realised that 600 kilograms of copper scrap, valued at approximately ₹4.8 lakh, had been stolen.

Following Bhute's complaint, the Kalmana Police registered a case under sections 305, 331(3), and 331(4) of the Indian Penal Code. Police Sub-Inspector Gawane, who is investigating the matter, confirmed that efforts are underway to track down the thief.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of commercial establishments in the area. The police urge anyone with information about the crime to come forward and assist in the investigation.
