Kapil Nagar Police Bust LPG Black Market Operation, Two Arrested

Nagpur, India: Two employees of a gas agency in Civil Lines have been arrested for siphoning LPG from domestic cylinders and illegally selling it in the black market.
The accused, identified as Mohan Singh Jagdish Singh (24) and Vishnu Kumar Kuldeep Singh Rehar (22), both residents of Silawat village in Dholpur district, Rajasthan, were caught red-handed by Kapil Nagar Police on Tuesday. They had been living on Nari Road in the Kapil Nagar area while working at the agency.
According to the police, the duo had been using a specially designed nozzle to siphon around 2 kg of LPG from each domestic cylinder they delivered. The stolen gas was then filled into smaller commercial cylinders and sold at a higher price on the black market, allowing them to make illegal profits over several months.
Their actions not only defrauded customers by delivering under-filled domestic cylinders but also posed a significant safety risk. The illegal activity came to light following a tip-off, after which police conducted a raid.
During the operation, police seized 17 HP gas cylinders, 7 Bharat Gas cylinders, one Indane Gas cylinder, along with siphoning equipment such as nozzles and a weighing scale. The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹3,76,700.
Both individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act and the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order. They remain in police custody as further investigations are ongoing.
