Kasturchand Park Is Now Available for Nagpur Citizens
Nagpur, India- Kasturchand Park, a place of historical significance, is set to become more accessible to the general public.
A petition was filed in the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court, supporting the park's opening to citizens. Upon learning of this petition, the district collector took action, deciding to extend the park's operating hours. Now, citizens can enjoy the park from 5 am to 11 am and again from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Previously, the park's entrance had been locked, and security guards stationed there prevented public access, hindering the utilization of the grounds. The pending public interest litigation aims to ensure the protection of this important historical site.
Earlier directives from the court instructed the district administration, including the district collector, to safeguard the park. In response to the petition, the district collector sent a letter to the public prosecutor. The letter mentioned that Singham Security Services from Saoner Taluka had been providing security at the park since January 5, 2021. Initially, ten guards were deployed, but this number was reduced to four on June 15, 2021. Additionally, the collector stated that the park would now be open to citizens for six hours in the morning and three hours in the evening.
However, the petitioner remains dissatisfied with this response. Through the ongoing PIL, they advocate for round-the-clock access to the park for citizens.
