Know how physical therapy can help avoid health problems in the future
Don't assume that physical therapy is all about recuperating from an injury or recovering from surgery. Seeing a physical therapist should be about prevention, regular evaluation, and maintaining health for the great majority of people.
After multiple visits, you receive an evaluation and are sent home with exercises and tips on how to move more effectively. Earhart stated, "That's a big chunk of what physical therapists do." However, I believe that many individuals are not understanding. They think that a physical therapist will massage them till they feel better when they have a serious medical issue. That isn't the case.
1. The hips- Each of us has a unique build, with differences in hip architecture and other features. Early evaluation of youngsters may be helpful in determining which sports or activities are best for them. For a physical therapist, testing in advance to prevent issues later is ideal.
2. Fall prevention- For the elderly, falling and the fear of falling can be crippling. Physical therapists can assist with relatively easy therapies, according to Herr. "Floor to stand" actions require strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and preparation, according to Herr. "Getting up from a lying position on the floor to standing seems easy," Herr remarked. "But it's a great exercise for all age groups."
3. Weight problems- According to Earhart, problems associated with being overweight may account for as much as half of the patients receiving physical therapy. "A person's weight can affect their movement even if they are not severely obese," she stated. "The loads on a person's joints increase with the amount of weight they are carrying."
