Kotgul PHC Upgraded to Rural Hospital: A Boost for Healthcare Access in Gadchiroli

Vidarbha, Gadchiroli, India: The State Government’s Public Health Department has announced plans to elevate the primary health center (PHC) in Kotgul to rural hospital (RH) status. This move aims to enhance healthcare services for the local population, and an official government directive has been issued to implement this change.

Korchi taluka is recognized as a remote region, with a significant distance between Kotgul and the taluka headquarters in Korchi. Villagers often have to travel to Korchi or Gadchiroli for healthcare services. In response to this situation, Krishna Gajbe, the MLA from Armori, advocated for the upgrade of the 30-bed PHC in Kotgul to a rural hospital. The government has now approved this request.

The Public Health Department released a government resolution (GR) regarding this matter just one day before the model code of conduct for the elections took effect. As a result, the rural hospital in Kotgul will receive the necessary staffing, and a new building will be constructed to support its operations.
