Lost Bag with ₹1.5 Lakh Returned to Accident Victim’s Wife by Ganeshpeth Police
Nagpur, India: In a display of honesty and quick action, Ganeshpeth Police returned a bag containing ₹1.5 lakh in cash to the wife of a man injured in a road accident.
The incident occurred around midnight near Darshan Tower on CA Road, falling under the jurisdiction of both Ganeshpeth and Panchpaoli police stations. The victim, Vijay Kudmethe (42), a resident of Cheese Bhavan, Nagpur, was involved in the accident and rushed for medical attention.
During the response, police recovered a bag belonging to Kudmethe at the scene. It was safely deposited at the Ganeshpeth Police Station while efforts were made to trace the victim’s family.
Later, the police contacted his wife, Archana Vijay Kudmethe (36), and handed over the bag and the cash amounting to ₹1,50,650 in the presence of official panch witnesses.
The responsible and transparent handling of the situation by the police has drawn praise from local residents, who lauded their integrity and prompt service.
