Low Turnout in Nagpur is making BJP Restless
The decline in voter turnout has upset the Bharatiya Janata Party, which meticulously organized each page of the voter list, each booth, each ward, and each individual worker for the Lok Sabha elections. Interestingly, despite all of these safeguards, millions of voters are denied the opportunity to cast a ballot, which is said to be the primary source of discontent.
This is because the omission of names from the voter list is not discovered until the day of the polls. It is believed that because voter list planning is done on a booth-by-booth, page-by-page basis, the BJP benefits from higher voter turnout in every election.
The voting percentage has not improved from 2019 to 2024, despite the fact that the system has been in place for the last six months. Voting was conducted in only 54% of cases.
Due to their names not being on the list, thousands of voters were unable to cast a ballot. Given the proximity of the conflict, both the BJP and the Congress are likely to be impacted by this, but the BJP may want to take note of this.
BJP finds this idea unsettling. Despite the fact that BJP MLA Krishna Khopde has attributed the poor voter participation to the election system, the party, which prides itself on having a door-to-door contact mechanism, has failed to identify the discrepancy in the voter lists.
