Mahal Man Arrested for Threatening to Circulate Morphed Pictures
Nagpur: A 23-year-old man has been arrested by the Bajajnagar Police for allegedly threatening to circulate morphed pictures of a 20-year-old woman and demanding ₹5000 from her between February 25 and June 17, 2024.
The accused, identified as Samarth Parag Bhosale, resides at flat number 559, Naik Road, Mahal.
According to police sources, the victim met Samarth on Instagram, and their online friendship quickly deepened. Exploiting this relationship, Samarth allegedly borrowed ₹30,000 from the victim under various pretexts, which he never repaid.
In June, Samarth demanded an additional ₹5000 from the victim. When she was unable to comply, he allegedly threatened to circulate objectionable pictures of her.
The victim, fearing the repercussions of this threat, reported the incident to the Bajajnagar police station. Consequently, an offense has been registered against Samarth under sections 386, 354A, 354D, and 294 of the Indian Penal Code.
