Maharashtra Government Holds All-Party Meeting to Address Maratha Reservation Demand
In response to the renewed agitation led by Maratha Kranti Morcha leader Manoj Jarange-Patil, the Maharashtra government has convened an all-party meeting today to seek a consensus on the long-standing demand for reservations in education and government employment by the Maratha community. This development has once again placed the Maratha reservation issue at the forefront of Maharashtra's political landscape.
The state government, under the leadership of Eknath Shinde, is taking proactive steps to address the ongoing Maratha quota protests. These protests gained momentum after Manoj Jarange-Patil initiated an indefinite hunger strike on August 29 in Antarwali Sarathe village, Jalna district. His hunger strike serves as a powerful call for reservations for Marathas in educational institutions and government job opportunities.
Jarange-Patil, the leader of the Maratha Kranti Morcha, has recently declared that he has taken the extreme step of giving up water and intravenous support, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
The all-party meeting signifies the government's commitment to finding a solution to this pressing issue and represents a significant step in addressing the concerns and aspirations of the Maratha community in Maharashtra.
