Maharashtra Government Schools to Follow CBSE Pattern from 2025-26

Nagpur, India: Maharashtra government schools will adopt the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) curriculum from the academic year 2025-26. Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse announced this decision on Thursday. The change aims to improve education quality and align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

CBSE textbooks will be available in Marathi by 1st April 2025. The Education Department has instructed all government schools to follow the new curriculum. The transition will happen in phases, starting with Classes 1, 3, 5, 8, and 11.

The government wants to provide students with a better and more flexible learning experience. The CBSE pattern promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and skill-based learning instead of rote memorisation. It also offers students the freedom to choose subjects, preparing them for higher education and careers.

To ensure a smooth transition, teachers will receive training to handle the new syllabus. Updated learning materials will also be provided. The government will monitor the process and make adjustments if needed.

Switching to the CBSE curriculum will help students perform better in national-level exams and open up more opportunities in higher education and careers. This change is expected to bring Maharashtra’s education system closer to national standards.
