Maharashtra Government to Launch ‘One State, One Registration’ for Property Transactions from April 2025

Maharashtra will introduce the ‘One State, One Registration’ system from April 1, 2025, to make property transactions easier. This new system will allow buyers and sellers to register property documents at any sub-registrar office in the state, no matter where the property is located.
The initiative is part of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s ‘100 Days, 100 Initiatives’ program, which aims to improve government services and increase revenue. Maharashtra earns a significant amount from stamp duty fees, with nearly three lakh property registrations every year.
For the financial year 2024-25, the state expects to collect ₹55,000 crore from property transactions. So far, 2.41 lakh registrations have been completed, generating ₹47,000 crore in revenue. Officials believe the new system could help increase stamp duty collection by ₹10,000 crore every year.
To make this possible, the government is developing a digital platform that will allow property registrations at any sub-registrar office. This will remove the need for property owners to visit a specific district office, making the process faster and more convenient.
Deputy Inspector General of Registration, Ashok Patil, called the system a major step in modernizing property registration. He said that from April 1, 2025, Maharashtra residents will have an easy and hassle-free way to register property transactions.
This initiative is a big step in Maharashtra’s digital transformation, ensuring a simpler, quicker, and more efficient property registration process.
