Maharashtra Winter Session Expected to Start on December 9 or 17
The Winter Session of the Maharashtra State Legislature is expected to start on either December 9 or 17, 2024. However, the exact date depends on whether the government starts functioning according to the rules.
Divisional Commissioner Vijayalaxmi Bidari reviewed the preparations for the session and expressed satisfaction with the progress so far. However, the political situation in the state has changed after the recent elections. The MahaYuti alliance is still trying to decide who will be the next Chief Minister. On Tuesday, Eknath Shinde resigned, and the Governor asked him to lead a caretaker government. If the alliance fails to form a new government, the caretaker government will continue, and the session may be delayed.
Bidari, in her meeting on Tuesday, directed officials to finish cleaning and painting work at key government buildings like Vidhan Bhavan, Ravi Bhavan, MLA Hostel, and Hyderabad House. The Public Works Department (PWD) has already started repairs and painting at these places.
The meeting also included important officials like District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar and PWD Executive Engineer Abhijeet Kuchewar. Bidari instructed the officials to prioritize maintenance at the Chief Minister's residence (Ramgiri) and the Deputy Chief Minister's residences.
Bidari also asked the Police Department to make sure there are enough security arrangements and to set up CCTV cameras to keep the area under surveillance. The Health Department was asked to prepare for any medical emergencies, as many people will be visiting from outside the city.
