India: Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, has been threatened with death, according to police reports on February 20. The threat was reportedly sent through an email from an unidentified account.

A media report stated that the sender warned of a bomb attack on Eknath Shinde's car. The report also mentioned that emails containing the threat were sent to the Goregaon and JJ Marg police stations, as well as to the Mantralaya (State Secretariat).

There is more protection around the Deputy CM now. The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and more details are awaited.

The 19 year old student was later arrested in Pune. The person responsible was identified as Shubham Warkad, who is from Nanded district.
