Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University expelled a Student
The Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University in Wardha has expelled a student. The Registrar was ordered by the High Court to permit the student to take the exam and access the premises, taking into account the student's future in this matter.
Nonetheless, the registrar persisted in refusing the student's admittance notwithstanding the court's directive. The court let the registrars know how much it disapproved of this, telling them to "don't ruin the future of the students" and threatening to initiate a contempt case against them.
After being refused access to the university grounds, Hindi University PhD candidate Niranjan Kumar filed a contempt petition in the High Court. Ny and Justice Nitin Sambare. The Abhay Mantri bench presided over the hearing. After the university's vice-chancellor resigned, Bhimraya Metri, a former director of IIM Nagpur, was unceremoniously named vice-chancellor.
During Republic Day celebrations, the students displayed banners in protest of this. Niranjan Kumar and other pupils were consequently expelled. Niranjan Kumar appealed the university's judgment in a petition. On February 16, the court had halted the university's decree of expulsion.
However, the court ordered the registrar to appear when Niranjan Kumar claimed he was still being turned down for admission to the university. Attorneys Nihal Singh Rathod and Anand Parchure argued the case on behalf of the petitioners.
