Major Blaze at Times Tower in Lower Parel Controlled; No Casualties Reported
Nagpur, India: Authorities reported that a major fire at the 15-story Times Tower building in Lower Parel was brought under control after four hours of intense firefighting efforts.
The blaze erupted at around 6:30 AM in the Kamala Mills compound. Having declared it a level 2 (major) fire, the fire brigade deployed eight fire engines and additional firefighting vehicles to tackle the flames. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
Civic officials revealed that the fire originated from the electrical duct and was contained between the third and seventh floors of the building. Five fire engines and seven jumbo tankers were used to control the situation.
MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande criticized the handling of the incident, stating, “This is the third fire at Kamala Mills in five years. There are no fire audits for the buildings, and illegal construction is increasing with the support of local MLAs.”
