Man Arrested for Seeking Bribe from Railway Engineer While Posing as CBI Staffer
According to an official, a man who was purportedly impersonating a member of the Central Bureau of Investigation was taken into custody in Nagpur on Thursday.
The accused Sadiq Qureshi pretended to be the deputy inspector general of the CBI Nagpur unit's personal assistant (PA) and made a false demand of ₹ 20 lakh from Sandeep Kumar Verma, the senior divisional mechanical engineer of Central Railway, stating that the latter had complaints against him that he could resolve, according to the official.
Sadiq Qureshi alleged that he was detained by the CBI's Anti Corruption Bureau despite having accepted ₹1 lakh. According to the CBI official, searches have been conducted in his home and other locations connected to him as part of the investigation. He has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
