Nagpur, India: A man has been arrested by MIDC police for stealing Rs 15 lakh in cash from his brother-in-law’s house. The theft occurred at Anjali Apartment in Rajendra Nagar, within the jurisdiction of the MIDC Police Station.

The accused, identified as Jyotirmoy alias Pintu Jakhmola (54), is a native of Kotdwara, Uttarakhand. A case has been filed against him based on a complaint by Ram Ashok Joshi, a 50-year-old lawyer.

According to the police, Jyotirmoy, a plumber, had been staying with Joshi during the construction of Joshi’s house. Joshi had kept Rs 18 lakh in a drawer to pay the contractor. On March 3, Jyotirmoy traveled to Indore by bus and then proceeded to Uttarakhand.

On March 4, Joshi’s wife, Rajni, checked the drawer and discovered only Rs 3 lakh remaining. She informed Joshi, who attempted to contact Jyotirmoy but received no response. After reaching out to Jyotirmoy’s friends, Joshi found out that Jyotirmoy had deposited Rs 2 lakh into one friend's bank account and Rs 50,000 into another friend's son's account. It was also discovered that Jyotirmoy had withdrawn Rs 50,000 from one of his friends. Realizing that Jyotirmoy had stolen the money, Joshi filed a complaint with the police, and the MIDC police have registered a case.
