Man Arrested with ₹1.35 Crore Cash Near Police Station Amid Election Season
Nagpur, India: The Tehsil police confiscated ₹1.35 crore in cash from a man riding an Activa scooter near the police station on November 13. This operation, conducted so close to the station, has raised many questions, particularly because such a large sum of money was found during the Assembly elections. The Tehsil police, in collaboration with the Election Commission team, investigated the case late into the night.
The individual, 27-year-old Sabir Khan Nasir Khan from Yashodhara Nagar, was riding an Activa scooter around 9:45 pm near the Tehsil police station with a large bag hanging from the footrest.
The police had been tipped off that Sabir was carrying a large sum of money. They stopped him near Prakash High School, just a short distance from the station, and found cash in the bag. He was then taken to the police station for questioning, where Police Inspector Sandeep Hua and his team asked him about the money.
Sabir explained that he had picked up the money from a well known businessman in Rajnagar and was on his way to deliver it to someone in Wardhaman Nagar. He stated that upon reaching Wardhaman Nagar, the businessman would provide the details of the recipient. The Tehsil police then notified senior officials about the situation.
DCP (Zone-3) Mahak Swami arrived at the station to supervise the case. Sabir, who works as a driver and comes from a humble background, raised suspicions due to the large sum of money he was carrying, especially given the timing during the election season. The Tehsil police continued their investigation into the matter.
