Man Attacks at Nagpur Railway Station: Two Killed, Several Injured

Nagpur, India: In a horrifying incident, a man carrying a wooden plank attacked a group of individuals at platform number 7 of Nagpur railway station, resulting in the tragic death of two people and serious injuries to two others. The brutal assault occurred at around 3:30 PM, keeping the passengers at the station in panic.

The deceased passenger has been identified as Ganesh Kumar, 54, from Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. The identity of the second victim is still unknown. The accused is been identified as Jayaram Ramavatar Kewat, a 45-year-old resident of Haiderpur village in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district.

The assailant, described as a psychopath, targeted a group of six to seven people before fleeing the scene. Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Nagpur Police swiftly responded, securing the area. Police tried catching him, however, he fled off the railway tracks. 

Witnesses reported that Kewat, dressed in a white shirt, launched the attack after a verbal confrontation. Eyewitness Dinesh Hiralal Meshram stated that the suspect used a heavy wooden plank to strike the victims, targeting their heads and chests.

the Accused first engaged in a fight will one individual before retrieving the wooden plank from nearby railway tracks. He then took the wooden plank and injured the person. 

During a search operation, police located Kewat on Platform No. 6/7. After questioning him and receiving eyewitness testimony, he was arrested. Kewat confessed to the assault during police interrogation.

A case has been filed against Jayaram Ramavatar Kewat under the relevant sections of the BNS for murder and attempted murder.
