Man Attempts to Electrocute Girlfriend, Rescued from Suicide at Ambazari Lake
Nagpur, India: On Saturday morning, a man allegedly attempted to murder his girlfriend by giving electric shock at her in Kapil Nagar. The accused, identified as Vikky Hazare, reportedly took the frustration on the victim who repeatedly refused his marriage proposals, leading him to suspect her loyalty.
Police revealed that Vikky and the victim, both working at a private company, had been in a relationship for two years. The past few months the relationship saw fights that were marked by frequent arguments from Vikky's insisting on marriage and his growing suspicions that the victim was seeing someone else.
On Saturday morning, following a heated argument the night before, Vikky arrived at the victim's house around 10 a.m. with an electric cable. As she was getting ready for work, Vikky attacked her, attempting to electrocute her by wrapping her in the wires. Fortunately, the shock was not severe enough to inflict serious injury. The victim's desperate screams for help drew her family and neighbours, who rushed to her aid. Vikky managed to escape the scene before he could be caught.
Kapil Nagar police, led by Police Inspector Mahesh Andale, quickly responded to the situation. Following the victim's report, they registered a case of attempted murder against Vikky.
After fleeing, Vikky headed to Ambazari Lake, intending to take his own life. Using call data records (CDR), police tracked his whereabouts and informed their colleagues at Ambazari. Officers from the Ambazari police arrived at the lake to find Vikky in a distressed state, crying near the water. They successfully prevented his suicide attempt and took him into custody.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
