Man Beaten to Death by Passengers on Dakshin Express Train in Nagpur
Nagpur, India: A tragic incident unfolded on the Dakshin Express (12721) on Thursday morning, January 2, when a young man was beaten to death by four passengers who wrongly accused him of theft. The train, travelling from Hyderabad to Delhi, was near Nagpur Railway Station around 9:15 am when the attack took place.
The deceased, identified as Shashank Ramsingh Raj, was reportedly accused by the passengers of stealing a mobile phone. The assault escalated quickly, leading to his death. During the investigation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) discovered 10-12 mobile phones in the victim's pockets, which raised further suspicions about his involvement in the theft.
The GRP has apprehended all four suspects involved in the incident. The body of the victim has been sent for postmortem examination.
This incident is the latest in a series of violent occurrences at Nagpur Railway Station. In October 2024, a mentally unstable person attacked sleeping passengers on Platform 7, resulting in two fatalities and two injuries.
