Man Beaten to Death Over Mobile Phone Dispute in Nagpur's Pardi Area

Nagpur, India: A minor argument over a mobile phone ended in tragedy in Nagpur’s Pardi area on Monday evening. A man was beaten to death with a wooden stick after a heated exchange, and the accused was arrested by police within an hour and a half.

The victim has been identified as Jitendra alias Jitu Raju Jaydev (40), a resident of Bhim Square, Hiwari Nagar. The accused, Itwaridas Shivlal Manikpuri (35), lives in Navin Nagar, Pardi.

According to police reports, Jitendra had gone to meet friends in the locality around 6:45 pm. During the conversation, Itwaridas accused him of hiding his mobile phone. Jitendra denied the claim, which led to a verbal altercation. As tensions rose, Jitendra slapped Itwaridas in front of others.

Feeling humiliated, Itwaridas stormed off, threatening revenge. Shortly after, he returned with a wooden stick and attacked Jitendra, who was sitting on a footpath nearby. The blows to Jitendra’s head and back were so severe that he collapsed on the spot.

Local residents immediately alerted the police. Pardi police launched a swift search and apprehended Itwaridas within 90 minutes of the attack. A case of murder has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

The shocking incident has left the local community stunned, raising concerns about rising tempers leading to violent outcomes.
