Man Caught With Mephedrone Worth ₹2.38 Lakh in Wathoda

Nagpur, India: A 25-year-old man was arrested by Nandanvan Police on Tuesday evening after he was found in possession of mephedrone, a banned drug, and other valuables worth over ₹2.38 lakh.
The accused has been identified as Sonu Sanjay Irmalwar, a resident of Bhuteshwar Nagar near Gangabai Ghat in Nagpur. He was caught near a kachha road leading to Uday Lawn, opposite the NIT ground in Wathoda Gaon.
The police were on routine patrol between 6 pm and 7:30 pm when they acted on prior information and stopped Irmalwar. A search was conducted in the presence of two panch witnesses as per the guidelines of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Police recovered 14.33 grams of mephedrone (MD) powder worth ₹1,43,500. They also seized a Vivo V29e mobile phone valued at ₹15,000 and a Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle worth ₹80,000. The total value of the seized materials is ₹2,38,500.
A case has been registered under Sections 8(c) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act. The quantity of the drug recovered is more than a small amount but less than a commercial quantity, making it a punishable offence.
The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Koli and involved PSI Pradeep Kait, PSI Nilesh Dalvi, PSI Akash Bairat, WPC Swati Uike, and constables Dinesh Jugnahake, Rahul Khadtkar, Pravin Marape, and Ramdas Haran.
Further investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the drugs and uncover any links to a broader drug network.
