Man Duped of ₹1.21 Lakh in ATM Card Swap Fraud in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: A man lost ₹1.21 lakh after falling victim to an ATM card swap fraud in Chakradhar Nagar. The incident occurred on 9th February when the victim visited the Bank of Maharashtra ATM near Sanjuba High School to withdraw cash.

A young man, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, was already inside the ATM booth. He approached the victim under the pretext of helping him with the transaction. Gaining the victim’s trust, he asked for the ATM card and pretended to assist with the withdrawal. However, he secretly swapped the victim’s card with another one and quickly fled the scene.

The following morning, on 10th February, the victim received bank messages notifying him of a ₹50,000 cash withdrawal and a ₹71,000 jewellery purchase. Realising he had been deceived, he immediately lodged a complaint at Sakkardara police station.

Police have registered a case of fraud and launched an investigation into the matter. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and avoid handing over their ATM cards to strangers to prevent such scams.
